Taranaki Tuataras Climbing Club
A youth climbing club for young people aged 11-18. Taranaki Tuataras is a social climbing club set up for youth with a passion for climbing. We do not push learning, but encourage all to develop their skills and abilities. The club has begun to represent Taranaki in the North Island Regional Climbing Competitions. Club members are taught safe belaying skills, climbing technique and lead climbing skills. Social Night: Tues 6.00pm-9pm A youth club set up for those with a passion for all things climbing. Experienced instructors fill the role of facilitators to encourage climbers to pursue their own interests, enabling youth to learn new skills and increase their overall ability. We also provide opportunities to compete at regional North Island climbing competitions which are fun friendly competitions that some choose to do to prepare for the much more serious National Competitions. $110 for 3 month membership (includes gear hire on Tuesdays nights, and entry to public sessions) or Casual $9 per session Competition Climbing: Tuesday 4.30pm – 6.00pm & Thursday 4.00pm – 5.30pm This is aimed at youth looking to compete at a national level and beyond in sport climbing or bouldering (low level/no ropes). Sessions focus on teaching individuals the skills to analyse their own strengths and weaknesses and collaborate on a plan to achieve their goals. $50 per term (Maximum class size of 8, book early) Membership includes access to the wall during public openings but does not include equipment hire outside of class times.
